Mark, I don't know if my depression is comparable to yours (mine is secondary to OCD). I've had both depression and OCD my whole life, as far as I can tell, and Effexor-XR has really helped me. People are all different, though. Just make sure to start it very slowly (I started with a week of 37.5) and increase it very gradually. I don't have any noticeable side effects from it (as far as I can tell!). It makes me feel quite energetic, to the point that sometimes, I've had trouble sleeping (I guess that's a side effect, for me). Good luck!
