If you have no drug coverage and your income is under a certain level, most drug companies have a program to get you the medication through your physician. Usually it is a simple procedure, although it varies from company to company. With some, all your doctor has to do is to call them and tell them they have a patient with the need. Other companies require a short form to be filled out. Once in a while with new medications you may hit a caveat. For example, the company who makes provigil has a program, but you have to be diagnosed for a sleep disorder, not depression, or you don't qualify. (They are presently considering changing that requirement).
Anyway, there is an excellent site called www.needymeds.com, which lists by drug name, the participation of the manufacturers in this program.Cass, I don't see vioxx on the list but I know it is distributed by Merck, in West Point, PA. I'm sure you can contact them directly to see if they have a program. If they do, you can first get samples from your doctor to see if it helps you, then apply for assistance.
