I used to cut after rages. For me, it was a way to soothe my mind after the emotional intensity of a rage. Tenormin (a Beta-blocker) and Prozac (an anti-depressant) made my rages manageable enough for me to actually do therapy. Through cognitive-behavioral therapy, I learned to deal with frustration well enough to stop cutting completely. With drugs alone, I don't think I would have done as well.
I still have rages, but the frequency fell from about one a week before treatment to about one a year after treatment. Another change is that I tend to arrest the rage faster now, so the rages never quite reach the level of emotional intensity they used to.
