I was trying to post on Kerry B.'s thread, but couldn't. Somewhere along the line, I developed EPS, which got progressively worse. At the time it started, I was taking Celexa and Adderall. It involved my mouth, constant licking of my lips and pursing. Somedays it caused terrible mouth pain and sores it was so bad. My doctor concluded that what happened was an unmasking of Tourette's Syndrome which was present before, but nearly unnoticable. He put me on Zyprexa for a month with no results. I also switched to Paxil in the hopes the sexual side effects would improve. All the while my doctor worried about hypomanic episodes and the Tourette's. He asked me to stop taking Adderall; that didn't help. Finally, we agreed to try a small (5mg) dose of the standard Tourette's drug, Haloperidol. I took one dose, just before bedtime and awoke the next morning knowing I was "cured". This was just night before last. I had absolutely no urge to do any of the oral behaviors and kept my lipstick on all day (I would normally have it licked or chewed off within minutes!) Now I'm off Adderall, weaining off Paxil and moving to Wellbutrin plus I'm taking 1200mgs of Neurontin, just in the last few days. My only complaint is the drowsiness I've had since stopping Adderall; I've been a slug this whole weekend. I didn't think I needed a mood stabilizer but apparently my doctor throught I needed to slow down. Perhaps it was the combination of the Neurontin and Haloperidol that stopped the EPS, but I think it was the Haloperidol alone. Anyway, it sure is a relief; it was getting difficult to go out in public because obviously, I could not control this very visable behavior. I'm to call my doctor at home tomorrow to report on my response; I know he'll be delighted with my news. I'm going to beg him to allow me to resume Adderall with the other drugs so I can stay awake and take care of my family! I hope this information might help someone who has EPS. Take care all.
