Ralph - If this is only your second week on Paxil and you've already been raised to 30mg, I'd speculate that the lack of appetite, has more to do with your body adjusting to the Paxil or what I call "start-up side effects". These usually last 2 or 3 weeks. Your appetite may return in this time period.

Also, the weight gain with Paxil seems to be an incidious delayed action of the drug. It may be due to a combination of resolving depressive symptoms, increased appetite, decreased metabolism, &/or a myriad of other possibilities. The weight gain seems to really become noticeable in the 2nd or 3rd month. Weight gain does not happen in everyone (actually, some people do lose weight).
