> JohnLJL,
Have you read her most recent book: "Night Falls Fast : Understanding Suicide" (Hardcover - October 1999)
or
her first book: "Touched With Fire : Manic Depressive Illness and the Artistic Temperament"?If so, I am curious about your impressions of these two books, which I've just skimmed. "An Unquiet Mind" was very helpful to me, too, though William Styron's "Darkness Visible" was one of the first I read on depression which made a strong impression on me. In it he quotes a line from Baudelaire (a french author??): "I have felt the wings of the winds of madness." which stuck in my mind.
When I've been in a similar space to that he descibes when quoting that line, one of complete and utter despair and anxiety, that line has haunted me. Hopefully it will haunt me no more...
but only remain a faint memory of a ghost in my mental machinery.Sante!
