I think there are lots of people who give up on meds because of bad effects. Only thing is, I can tell you from experience that with Serzone, it was really bad in the first few weeks, but got much better after that, so it might be worth sticking it out to see.
Ear infection--this is a complication that could be having a big impact upon your state of mind. I know that when I am fighting infection, I get very depressed.
Plus--your insomnia has got to be adding a lot of discomfort, too. Hopefully, the sleeping pills will help some.
