> Hey Everyone,
> I am having a terrible time falling asleep at night. I am afraid that I will have terrible nightmares like I used to. I just got out of the hospital for cutting and I am on lots of meds like Seroquel and Effexor. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS TO HELP ME FALL ASLEEP?Hi, I see Remeron (mirtazipine) used at bedtime with Seroquel (quetiapine) and venflaxine (Effexor) regimens. It seems to help sleep and additionally will help appetite if that is a concern. You could ask your PsyMD. As for sleep,
you should feel comforted knowing that you will do fine without deep sleep. You can lay down or sit in an easy chair and just rest and relax in Stage I sleep which is the interface between wakefulness and deeper sleep stages. You can keep yourself in stage I sleep, rest, and still hold your thoughts (not dream). If you do that all night you should feel rested enough in the morning. Eventually, while resting, you will go into REM and dream sleep, because your mind needs this level of sleep. But you may be able to program your dream thoughs. Here is how I do it.
I pick out one or two pleasant circumstances I would like to be in (I choose hiking or snow scenes). I then try to clear all thoughts and create a mental image of a candle flame flickering and burning on a black background. Think of the flame only - then drift in and out of your pleasant scenes. .....I hope this would work for you as it does for me. Maneevan
