Cam,
I was finally able to get the number for the facility that is testing the new med for Generalized Depression. They are Affiliated Research Insititute in Berkeley, CA, an offshoot of Alta Bates Hospital. I set up an appt to be seen there next Tuesday. They want me to spend an hour with their Psychiatrist to see if I meet their criteria for a test patient, then do a 1 1/2 hour physical (EKG, blood tests, yada yada yada). Then assuming I pass the tests, they will start me on the med. Here's the problem, they won't tell me what the med is until after the testing. The more I think about it, the more concerned I am about that. I'd really like to know what I might be getting myself into. Even if this is a new drug, there should be some kind test results available that I can look at so I know a little about it up front. Is that an unreasonable expectation? They said I would have to stop using the Wellbutrin and Neurontin, but that the Xanax and the Ambien should be OK. They really asked a lot of questions about my sleeping habits (or lack thereof), does that mean anything to you? I'm really having my doubts about whether I should follow thru with this, but who knows, this could be a miracle drug that will help millions.
I'll be discussing this with my doc tomorrow, but I'd really like to know what you (or anybody else) think about this.
As always Cam, I appreciate any input you can give me.
Greg
