Karen - 150mg of oxazepam (Serax) is a high dose. You definitely should be weaned very slowly from it. Common withdrawl side effects are anxiety, insomnia, headache, dizziness, tremor, irritability, perspiration, and palpitations.

Worse, •but rare•, side effects are muscle twitching, hallucinations, confusional or paranoid psychosis. I will reiterate that these are rare side effects, but should be monitored for, especially coming off af a high dose of benzodiazepines.

It is important to decrease the dosage of oxazepam slowly as, when taken for a long period of time, liver enzymes to increase (in response to high levels of the benzo) and your liver needs time to decrease the output of these enzymes.

Hope this helps - Cam
