For example PPD in moms - found if they deprive themselves of sleep between 3 am and 6 am (I think) it does give them more energy with the baby. The short sleeps during the day, because of frequent feeding do take a toll on new moms, esp. those with PPD. A little sleep deprivation every now and then seems to refresh. It kinda resets the body clock and does make one feel better a couple of days later. There was a recent article on this posted on the net.
I think this is why I used to do my all night garage cleanings. The next day you do walk around in a fog, but after a good night's sleep (the next night), you wake refreshed. It seems to work in mild to moderate cases of depression. Sometimes it is tough to find time to do it, as it takes up an entire weekend, but it can give you a short lived boost. - Cam
