Cass,
I tend to think the guy's a slimball. No sympathy for him from me--but then I have never met him. Generally I tend to be sympathetic, moreso than most people I believe. I'm uncertain if it's because I never met him.

I guess I'm trying to say, maybe you could be right. That there is some connection between you who was abused, is identifying with the abuser.
