Terry - Many people feel tired at first, while taking Effexor. This is one of the initial "start-up" side effects and usually disappears, or at least lessens greatly, in about 2 (sometimes as long as 4) weeks. Hang in there and keep us posted on how it goes. - Cam
P.S. - Also do not expect the full therapeutic effect of the drug until 4 to 8 weeks after starting it.
