Hello. I am a high endurance athlete, and race bicycles. My wife and I were having marital problems, and she told me if I didn't get on medication for my "energy problem and bad temper" that we were never going to be able to work things out. I didn't want to get on it because I figured it would affect my cycling, and also it is not an approved drug for flying (I am a licensed pilot). However, my marriage was more important. I was diagnosed with Adult ADD a long time ago, but did nothing about it until now. I have been taking adderall for about a month, usually 15 mg in the morning and 10 in the afternoon. I have found that my heartrate is higher than it was (resting hr and also hr during intense physical activity). I was wondering if there were any dangers to an elevated heart rate. My time trialing heartrate is up, but I feel OK, and my times are good... But, I know my heart isn't acting right because I have always used a heart rate monitor. It's kind of scary, I don't want to work my heart too hard, even when I am not trying to. Like for example, right now it is around 80 bmp and I have been sitting in front of the computer for a few hours doing nothing. Usually, it would be under 60...... any advice?? I don't want my heart to blow up!!!!!!! Thank you!! And yes, I do drink several sodas per day, usually a Diet Dr. Pepper in the morning, and a Mt. Dew at lunch. Thanks a lot!
