Paul - To order a drug that is not approved in Canada, your doctor has to write to Health Canada - Health Protection Branch (I believe) and request that he be given authorization to import it. Your doctor will have to give reasons why you need this drug and why currently available treatments will not suffice. You will also need a source to obtain the drug.Another way to get a unapproved drug is to find out if there are any drug trials ongoning in Canada and see if you can join them. The manufacturer of the drug can probably tell you this. The only downside to this is that you could get the placebo or comparative drug if you meet the drug trial criteria and are accepted into the study.
If you try to import the drug on your own, it may get stopped at the border by customs and that will lead to hassles and you will probably have wasted your money.
Hope this helps - Cam W.
