> WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS, IF ANY; WHEN TAKING BOTH ORTHOTRICYCLINE AND ZOLOFT.Denise - There do not seem to be any drug-drug interactions between these 2 drugs in the standard pharmacy literature. The side effects will be the same as for each drug individually. It is usually the tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) that are affected by birth control pills (possible increase in depression seen with clomipramine).
Zoloft - Headache, stomach upset (take with food to enhance effect), sexual dysfunction (decreased libido and/or anorgasmia), weight gain or weight loss. These side effects, except for sexual dysfunction and sometimes weight gain, usually subside within the first month.
Tricyclen - occasionally bloating, nausea, breakthrough bleeding, and breast tenderness. These are not usually seen with the triphasic BCPs.
Hope this helps - Cam W.
