Changing my meds and so far, so good!

Posted by Patti on April 18, 2000, at 21:21:51

I found this board a few weeks back while trying to find
out if my 30 lb weight gain was due to the Effexor XR I
was on. I have been very impressed by the quality of
information and the helpfulness of members of this board.
Based on information I found here and some tracing of
my weight gains/losses over the past few years, I
talked to my doctor and he agreed to let me try
Wellbutrin.

Well, I was worried about the Effexor withdrawal, but
I want to let you know that I spent one week at half
my dosage (150mg down to 75mg)and then switched to
a combo of 10mg Celexa and 150mg Wellbutrin. I did not
have the dreaded flu-like w/d symptoms I had read about.
Biggest symptom was sadness and break through depression
symptoms.

This is my 5th day on the combo. I will be adding a
second dose of Wellbutrin to the mix, starting Friday.
So far I am still having the sadness and basic out of
sorts feelings, but no problems like I have had getting
used to other ADs. I hope this is the answer for me!

Thanks to all of you that post your experiences! It
really helped me to make informed decisions and have a
good dialog with my Internist.
