Psychology of Alternative Conventional Medicine

Posted by Cam W. on April 17, 2000, at 22:34:30

To All - While surfing journals, I found a couple of very interesting articles on why we believe alternative medicine (as well as some conventional medicine) works. I would be very interested to hear other people's impressions on these articles. They are printable from Medscape at:

Alcock, James E. "Alternative Medicine and the Psychology of Belief", Scientific Review of Alt Med, 3(2): 45-50, 52, 1999.

and

Beyerstein, Barry L. "Social and Judgemental Biases That Make Inert Treatments Seem to Work", Scientific Review of Alt Med, 3(2): 20-33, 1999.

Hoping to hear others opinions on these papers - Cam W.
