Cam--I absolutely howled when I read your post. Don't you know that the federal government is synonymous with "excess"? The Internet has removed the very last brake on run-on reports--the rising cost of paper. "Excess" is now passe; they're working on "infinite". (Maybe, it's just jealousy--they're the only writers wordier than I am.)
Seriously, I always recommend removing the "Print" button from the toolbars of public terminals. At least, if one has to print from the File menu, there is a dialog box offering the option to print less than everything. You can't do it from a public library, but from home or university, it's useful to keep a MSWord window open to copy and paste Internet tidbits to. Also, if what you've copied to Word has a URL, newer versions of Word (97 and higher) will let you highlight and hyperlink it. (I use it for parts of posts here that contain URLs I'd like to look at later.)
Sorry to get "techie" on you. BTW, may I use your post (no names, of course) for *my* "Intro to the Internet" workshops? Turnabout ought to be fair play, hum? This has been, so far, the most interesting, thought-provoking and entertaining set of messages on Babble since I've been reading--either that, or the Effexor is finally starting to work.
Best wishes--medlib
