Have you researched the use of Hemp Oil by any chance? My son is on a big crusade for use of hemp products and he has been pushing hemp oil as a dietary supplement. (I don't know about effect on bipolar or any other disorder). Supposedly, it is a more natural balance; has a more natural ratio of all the EFAs. This is the label breakdown from the cold pressed hemp oil that we are using:
1 Tablespoon contains:
Omega-3 (ALA)...21%(3g)
Omega-6(LA).....55%(8g)
Omega-9(OA).....13%(2g)
Steaic, Lauric, Palmitic....11%(1g)
Gamma Linoleic acid(GLA)....2%(280mg)It is quite palatable; we use it in salad dressings - you can't deep fry with it!
*There is a warning on the label that if you are subject to drug screen tests, use of the product my cause failure of the drug screen :-)
We were able to special order this product through a local health food store.
Just curious how this might compare with the other oils you're discussing...Liz

I am trying it now and have to take 24-25 of the salmon oil capsules that I have daily in order to get that high of a dose. My pDocs approve even though more clinical trials need to be completed.
