Mal- I, too, have a long history of migraines. but mine are adequately controlled (usually) by ergotamine tartrate (cafergot). Are yours one- or two-sided? How long has it been since you sought medical help for them? There are a number of drugs newly available for either prevention or prophylaxis. For example, Depakote, an anticonvulsant and mood stabilizer often prescribed for bipolar disorders, has been approved recently for migraine prevention. You can obtain immediate temporary relief of true migraines by warming your hands! (diverts blood circulation away from the brain) For more information, you might check out Headache Central on the web:

I'm also bipolor which makes the situation more complicated. please give me some sugestions on what to do next. I have been to the Mayo Clinic and Chicago Diamond Clinic. Medications just have't really worked for me. Is there any thing I can try beside meds? Mal
