An echo stress is an echocardiogram (sonogram of the heart)and a stress test. Real time images of your heart will be taken before, during and after the stress test to see how your heart
performs during stress (execise).Images side by side ( in motion) will be compared from the different stages of rest and exercise to see if there is any abnormalities. Exercise can be done
with the patient on a treadmill,a stationary bike or if the patient can't exercise for some reason like bad knees a drug dobutamine can be given to increase heart rate. Also during the test
a patient will be hooked up to a EKG that shows the electrical activity of the heart during the stages of the test.
