I did almost exactly that. I was taking 20 mg for about a month and a half, then I went up to 40 mgs. I have problems with anxiety, and the Celexa was really helping. I did not have any side effects besides weight gain. Perhaps unwisely, I have gone off it due to the weight gain. From my own experience, I would say you have nothing to be afraid of. Good luck.
