I've dealt with jaw tension for about three years now. I don't grind my teeth, so I know TMJ isn't the problem here. About a year ago the frustration caused by this started to result in chronic tension headaches.

I recently started taking 37.5 MG of Effexor XR and noticed this has helped the headaches, however I still deal with the jaw tension. For the couple years of this jaw tension made it hard for me to articulate and communicate in public, causing me to withdraw from public situations. Because of this I fell under a cloud of mild depression.

I tried muscle relaxers a couple years back, but I found they made me light headed and didn't help deal with the cause of the tension. I've been undergoing counseling, and have found that's helped me discover the source, but I still deal with the tension on daily basis. The tension usually onsets during my work day and goes away when I am alone or with certain individuals.

Has anyone else here dealt with this? Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

Derek
