Cigal - I have not even seen any anecdotal information on Effexor during pregnancy. Since its mechanism of action is slightly different than that of the SSRIs (eg Paxil & Zoloft), which are sometimes used during pregnancy, I would not want to hazard a guess on Effexor's safety in pregnancy, but like other antidepressants that work sort of similarily (eg TCAs), it "might" be used if absolutely necessary. I would like to see some definite clinical data before giving an opinion. Perhaps someone in babbleland has heard of it being use successfully in pregnancy. Sorry I cannot give you a definite answer as I do not believe there is one, yet. Sincerely Cam W.
