In reply to clinical or what?, posted by allison on March 6, 2000, at 7:29:35
> I was raised in a completely dysfunctional family. Children seen but not heard, abuse but just not taught anything about life and adult responsible behavior. It took me years to function and feel I've had a form of depression always. Year ago I had a deep depression that I could not pull out of and saw my GP and was put on Celexa. The change has been wonderful (despite anorgasmia). Now I'm considering going off the Celexa but am afraid of going back like I was even before the bad episode (lost my father in law). I'm wondering if this is clinical and need to stay on the meds. I've been reading Mind over Mood right now and am working on my thought patterns. Help would be appreciated.
Allison, ask your pdoc about possibly switching to a different medication. I haven't tried Celexa, but had anorgasmia on other SSRI's (Prozac, Luvox, Zoloft), but not Serzone or Effexor-XR. Also, there are tricyclic antidepressants such as imipramine which didn't (at least for me) interfere with orgasm. Talk about it with your pdoc, because a medication change might help you feel better without the anorgasmia.--Cindy W
