Janice, my husband also has the seasonal thing. He did some research and talked to some profs and it seems the most effective amount of light is 850 watts. Yes, it is alot and my bedroom wall looks just awful, but it helps!! He has them on a timer that starts them about a half hour before his alarm goes off. It helps him get up easier and start his day a bit more perked up. If he is feeling "closed in" or a bit down, he will go in there and turn them on and play on the puter a while or read or just lie there in the "sun". As far as the other part of your problem, I think Cam has those answers! Isn't he great to have here? One of my sis's is suppose to take Lithium for bi polar, but she is a much slower cycler that tends to stay manic, so we have trouble keeping her on it. (why would you want to take it when you feel soooo good!?) Anyway, I hope I have helped!
