hello Jade,
I am not a medical professional, but as far as I knkow lithium is used for manic depression, and as an augmentor to an anti-depressant.

within 48 hours, lithium stopped my highs and shortly afterwards prevented the lows moods from dipping quite so low.

But for some people, I believe the anti-depressant affects can take up to 6 weeks to feel their full effects.

I also have ADHD, and I believe the lithium helps my ADHD. It somehow helps to stabilize my energy!

Good luck. Finding the right medications seems to be hit and miss sometimes. I believe I also tried Olanzapine...didn't help me! Poor little guy. Janice.
