I'm looking for information from other people that have tried or are currently using St John's Wort to treat dysthmia. I've been using it for almost four weeks now and have found that it relieves anxiety, improves sleep quality, and has no negative sexual effects.
However I haven't noticed any improvement in my mood other than that things don't upset me as much as they used to. With the reduction in anxiety and guilt I don't seem to obsess as much as before but the thoughts are still there. They just don't drive me crazy as they used to.
Am I expecting too much from SJW? It doesn't elevate my mood as much as Serzone did but it's side effects are very tolerable.
Also, it seems to have some very positive sexual side effects although it does tend to subdue my libido. I like it better than Viagra and you can easily sleep afterwards.
I'd be interested in other's experiences, especially from other males.
Does this side effect only effect me or is it more universal? If this is more common then SJW seems to be much more preferable to the SSRI's without the nasty negative sexual, insomnia, and anxiety side effects.
The big drug companies will probably do everything possible to downplay SJW.
