> I find myslef confused at times with the contradictory information on meds. like Lorazepam. I take this drug on a daily basis, 2-3 mg. perday. It helps with anxiety and sleep very well. Some views state these types of meds are dangerous and need to be kept to a minimum in terms of use. Other views say they are very safe and to be relaxed about using them. Any comments on this topic would be appreciated.

Jim - Taken as directed and not used to get "high", but to control anxiety, benzodiazepines are relatively safe. Ideally, they should be as needed (prn) for acute anxiety or taken regularily for chronic anxiety. Their abuse potential is generally low and many of the scares are from an over-excited news media who would rather make the news than seriously report it with well research facts. Hope this helps. - Cam W.
