> I was tried on Depakote, which I never thought did much. When I have a difficult time sleeping, I get up and take 1/2 or 1 Xanax. It puts me to sleep in short order and I don't wake up again until it is time to. However, I don't believe Xanax is meant to be taken regularly because it is an addictive medication.
When I started WEllbutrin I was introduced to the world of the insomniacs! I learned from another board that benadryl and over the counter sleep aids have exactly the same ingredients. The generic or store brands of benadryl are the cheapest. The main ingredient in these is HCL, if I remember correctly. Best of luck to you. A little more advice...Iif you like to read to relax yourself before trying to sleep , don't read Insomnia by Stephen King! ;(
