Hi Elizabeth
I was on Paxil for depression/anxiety for about 4 years. It worked very well. I should also say that I'm on Ativan for insomnia because I have a bad case of irritable bowel syndrome that can keep me awake at night. Paxil helped with the insomnia-I took it just before bed. AS for side effects, I've tried tons of these drugs and I really think it's better not to know what MIGHT happen until it does. If you know something has a certain side effect, for me, it's easy to start thinking you've got it. Having said that, if you really want to know, I will gladly share my experience. Overall, Paxil was a very helpful med for me, much fewer side effects than desipramine. best of luck. PS - I read in the LA Times that Kava Kava should not be combined with anti-anxiety meds like Xanax or Ativan.
> hello. my name is elizabeth and i experience chronic underlying depression and generalized anxiety for a few years now. no medication for the last three years. i also was diagnosed with borderline adhd as a young child. i am taking paxil 10 mg for two days now and kava kava to help me sleep at night. i usually wake up several times during the night or have trouble sleeping altogether. i am wondering if there are any adverse side effects from combining kava with paxil? and because the medicine i was on about 3 years ago was tricyclic anti-depressant (i weaned off desiparmine-100mgs because of the hypomania which is still present today), what should i expect from paxil. i have read about some nasty side effects online. any help is appreciated.
