The fire certainly put a lot in perspective for me (let's see how long that lasts:-)
BTW, how are things going for you, especially financially. That can be such a heavy burden. It was interesting that the people who lost everything, (the younger ones- 40 or so, gee I never thought I would say 40 was young:-), are so incredibly gung ho to rebuild their homes and lives. These are people who just have their clothes on their back. Maybe when you hit bottom you realize there is no way but up, it's that in-between state that's a nightmare. Some of the people in the community (at last count about 30) have opened their homes up to families who lost everything in the fire- that means asking whole families to move in and not pay a dime. I have a lot more faith in people after this, I imagine it was similar to the reaction of the World Trade Center victims- although the loss of life there was staggering. Anyway, I really was wondering how you are.
take care, judy
P.S. My neighbors and I have started a list of how to help our fellow horse owners, I didn't have a trailor so I was freaked about the welfare of my horse. I wrote down I had corral space- there was a lady nearby who was evacuated and trailored her 2 horses and when she came back to her home there were 8 horses in her corral! I guess people felt it was safe and just left there horses there. She said all but one has been picked up today. Maybe she'll have a new member to her family:-)
