Growing up w/ pectus and having it now sucks.
Now, by local surgeon standards, an too old for the corrective operation which is incredibly painful anyway.
Friends say it's no big deal; that's because they don't have it. Read about the people's pain with this and their joy after having it fixed.
My inability to deal with it has, as much as anything, kept me closeted away and contributed a lot to my depression.
I can't afford the two main docs in the US that are great at the operation plus I'm getting too old to be sliced open.
I saw 3 local surgeons and each one was a prick. Well, if you had a normal chest, what would you be, a famous athlete? That's what one said. I said no, but I might be able to f'ing breathe better and my heart won't be displaced you prick.
I walked out.
That's what pectus is like as a grown up. I put up with so much growing up with it that I've blocked it all.
It's a real self-esteem killer. I can't get this fixed and 1/2 the women you see want volleyball sized boobs. Or if your nose is slightly off, fix it. I'd much rather have a 'visible' problem than this any day.
