Oh, this is a new idea to me. How will this dog help you? Is it for panic/anxiety, would it alert if you had a panic attack, and you could take meds or something?
The idea of a puppy, in general, just warms my heart through and through, and your children will probably fall in love with it right away. Can the dog be their pal, or is it always 'working' ?
BTW, I feel really, really worried that you are going off your meds. It's probably more about me than you, but I'm afraid your serious symptoms might return and catch you off guard. Can you taper really slowly so each step of the way you sort of decompress?
I'm thinking about how scuba divers coming to the surface have to stop every so many feet after a deep dive so their bodies can acclimate to the water pressure again, so they don't get the bends. They swim up so far (measuring their depth) and then just sort of hang out for a while, then swim up some more.
If you did that with your meds, I'd feel a lot better. You know, go down a little, hang out for a month or so, then go down a little more.
hahaha--it has not escaped me that this is MY anxiety talking, and I'm sure you are in good hands doc and support system-wise, plus your own intelligence will guide you, plus you have been dealing with this situation so it's not like you're a newbie at everything. I have faith in you that you know what you're doing, it just.....well, you know how fraidy cats get when something new is happening.....
I hope you will check in often, or at the very least, stay around, so I'll know you're ok.
xoxo
