I agree about the overlap. Also, there is a thread above talking about recent research that shows that NOT treating depression can lead to more frequent and worse recurring episodes. I also agree that youshould consult a specialist who will help you choose the right meds that won't exacerbate your anxiety symptoms (I think of the paranoia in this case as probably related to the anxiety and depression). A lot of us have had to try different med combos to get the right one. And combos are offten needed rather than just one med. You sound very unhappy. Perhaps you should find both a psychiatrist who does psychopharm and a good therapist (interview a few, someone wrote some good suggestions above about choosing docs and therapists). Keep us posted. BTW, at one point when I was a good deal younger, when I was very depresed, I had something like paranoid delusions/fears. I would be walking down a street at night and think the car headlight were coming to run me down on the sidewalk. WOuld think people at work were whispering and laughing about me. When paranoia comes with depression, and is congruent with teh mood, it is often an aspect of the depression, rather than a separate paranoid illness.
