I was on this for years (effexor, 75 mgs, doxipin,75-150 mgs (whatever put me to sleep) )
The effexor 1) potentates 3 neurotransmitters 2)
causes the body to not metabolize TCA's as quickly. This combo was very effective. Often adding another med cancels out side effects and makes both meds more effective. As effexor has a short life in your system (even in the XR) and TCA 's last weeks in your system watch you doses. If you increase on med to other will increase. Keep in touch with your doc and don't change dose as quickly as you would if you were on just one med.
