I used to have problems with Effexor affecting my
sleep and chronic insomnia, even taking 300 mg of
trazadone at night. Oh, I was taking 150 mg of Effexor
in the morning, and 150 mg at night.

My doc switched me to the Effexor XR, one dose in the
morning (300 mg), and that helped dramatically.

Also, try not to drink any caffeine (including
soft drinks and iced tea!!!) late in the afternoon
or evening. Don't exercise too late in the evening
either, as these could keep you awake, too.

Good luck.

PS: Neither Valerian or melatonin ever helped me
sleep or stay asleep.
