Interesting...tricyclics have been looked at for this too, though not much came of it.

(I think the Italians are fine.)

I like your speculation as to why it might happen, though I don't know any better than you do whether it's valid. :-}

I believe that it's pretty certain it *will* be available, probably in the next few months.
