In reply to Meditation, Yoga & non-medicinal alternatives..???, posted by dj on August 10, 1999, at 11:12:21
I try very hard to meditate for a minimum of five minutes every morning. Sometimes I combine it with yoga/stretching, breathing and chanting. It doesn't produce miraculous results. It does give me a clean start to the day, a little structure, and it often allows me to let go of negative thoughts/feelings in the moment. I'm also on Paxil and I recommend that meditation be used as one of many options for dealing with depression and anxiety. Best of luck.
> Anyone have any success stories related to these or other approachs? A n editroial accompanying the April 1999 Psych. Today cover story on Depression indicated that there may be a study coming out with a postive report on the value of meditation...I've dabbled in both but haven't sustained the efforts of those or breath focused approachs. Anyone out there made any long term efforts and had any positive results???
