But there are so many brands and so much other junk that is added to this stuff. The stuff I bought was written up in the AMerican Medical Journal. But that does not mean it cures all. If you could let me know that would be great. I am glad to hear that it worked for you. ELlen
SOme general guidelines when looking for a brand include the following: standardization - in the case of ginkgo, this means standardized to 24% flavone glycosides and 6% terpene lactones (brands using EGb761 or LI1370 are generally good); 60 mg/tablet, taking between 120 and 240 mg/day in divided doses; label should provide means to contact manufacturer if needed and an expiration date; check label for other herbal ingredients, since you probably want a product with just ginkgo (efficacy has not been established for combination products, so you are getting (and paying for!) extra ingredients that you may not want. It's best to just keep it simple). Best to avoid if you are on anticoagulants (prescription blood thinners, aspirin). If you to through with your doctor's recommendation, I would appreciate any followup on your experiences.
