Just a comment about bi-lateral treatment. I had two series of ECT, the second being bi-lateral. I had significant cognitive side effects and actually had to stop the treatment. Among the problems was not knowing how to get places that I was very familiar with (like my sister's). I also had trouble retaining new information. It took a number of months for the side effects to dissipate and I am still having memory problems. My only thought is to be sure you've given med combos a try. If you live near a medical school you might see if you can find a psychopharmacologist to consult with. Being affiliated with a med school the person is more likely to be up on the latest latest.
