Hi Bobbe; Yes, I have experienced exactly the same problem with all the SSRI's; Prozac worked for a while and then petered out and just caused fatigue. I have tried Paxil, Zoloft and Celexa; all caused fatigue. Celexa caused extreme sleepiness with no therapeutic effects. I added Zyprexa which seemed to help to some degree but not really enough to justify the price. Remeron worked briefly and then stopped; it just caused extreme sleepiness and weight gain. I tried augmenting all these anti-depressants with Ritalin and Cylert but this was of minimum use. I am now just taking dexedrine (10-20 day) which so far helps but I have only been on this for a couple of days and I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. So you are not alone in your struggles with these meds and they are not everything that they are advertised to be for everyone. I have also tried Naltrexone which did not work either. Anyway I hope your luck improves; I wish I could give you some positive suggestions but just to say keep at it, things will change. Peter
I am having similar side effects with Celexa that I've had with other SSRI's (Prozac, Paxil): enormous sleepiness, even when I take the 20mg at night--I'm up to about 10-11 hrs a day now. Also, at first, for a few days, I felt energetic and positive; now I'm depressed. I was on 40mg of Welbutrin for some months, which seemed to work somewhat better than SSRIs, but I was going down again, so now I'm on this cocktail of 20mg Welbutrin, 20mg Celexa, and it just ain't working. Maybe drop the Celexa, try 60 mg Welbutrin? Anyone else in this kind of trap? It was a great relief to read about others being fatigued by SSRIs; no one I know has had this experience. Thanks for helping.
