Jen,
Reboxetine is a relatively new med that specifically inhibits norepineprhine re-uptake, as opposed to SSRIs like Prozac that inhibit the uptake of serotonin. It is awaiting FDA approval in the US, which for some reason seems to be taking a bit longer than originally expected. (It's already approved in a couple countries.) The basic word is that it might well be better than SSRIs in many cases of severe depression, and that it tends to be quite good in improving drive & sociability in many patients too. Main side effects I've heard of are things like insomnia, rapid heartbeat, and urinary hesitation, and it's probably not a great idea in people with any history of bipolar symptoms. A LOT of people seem to be awaiting its release in the U.S. -- note all the discussion in previous months on this site !
Best,
JD
