I once read that some depressed patients were aided by being awakened all night each time they entered REM sleep. If this held up, it would be some evidence in favor of a causal connection between reducing REM sleep and alleviating depression?
BTW, has anyone ever studied depression among those rare individuals who never sleep or among eople who sleep remarkably little?
