In reply to Serzone Psychotics!!!!!, posted by Amanda on February 7, 1999, at 18:24:08
out of nowhere this weekend the Serzone made me feel like I was on acid and having multitudes of panic attacks. -has anyone ever had the same side effects i had with Effexor or Serzone? Amanda
Hi Amanda!! To make a very long story short I went the Effexor/Serzone route as well over the past two years. With Effexor I physically shook so hard I could not hold a pen, lost memories, ran into mailboxes with my car, etc, which of course my doc at the time said was impossible. After trying many other ADs we settled on Serzone --which led to the excruciatingly painful "psychotic" attacks of mania/panic/seriously f**cked thinking patterns -- things I had never felt or experienced before. I wish I could say that yes I have found something that works. Well, Serzone scared me into a new doc's office six months ago, and she has been weaning me off of the dozens of medications I was taking to offset the side effects of Effexor and Serzone. She doesn't want to try any new ADs or any other med for that fact until she establish a "baseline." Meanwhile, with a healthy stock of klonopin for anxiety attacks, I've been weathering through the bouts of depression. I have an incredibly difficult time sleeping, but encouragingly, I am making it without ADs for now (with strict monitoring from my dr. and a very stringent plan should I stop eating, start crying ALL the time, or even begin to become suicidal). I also expect I will need maintenance meds of some sort all my life. I'm not sure this is helpful. All I know is I've been there, and I'm still herre, and I'm not giving up!! Good luck!! -shelley
