I had a long series of ect back in 73. My
experience was that there was no pain, or
discomfort, or loss of memory except for the time
of the ect. All in all, no big deal.
Unfortunately, it did not work for me. But sinceit
usually does work--better than anything else--and
is not at all unpleasant, as far as I could see,
it may be worth a try. Just forget all the stupid
and superstitious silliness; if it helps, look at
it this way: there is plenty of electricity in the
brain all the time, that is how neurons fire,
