> I can't sleep at night at all for two months now I fall asleep around 6 or 7 in the morning and wake up at about noon. if anyone has this problem or similer problems please write

I have had this, in fact most of my life until I
was treated for dep, I basically could not go
to sleep until 3-4 am and then I would sleep until
something woke me up. In other words, once I got
to sleep, I was out cold, but getting there was
almost impossible. If I would wake up in under
4 hours, I would be super hyper for the day. If
this goes on for several days (as it often does
in the summer) I become clearly hypomanic and
resort to a large dose of benzos to conk myself
out. My mood is usually normal to down after this.

The various AD meds have different effects on
the sleep cycle. The SSRI's seem to cause (in me)
a shortening of the clock as well as a total
inability to sleep more than a few hours. This
comes on within two weeks of starting the med.

The TCA amitriptyline seems to really help me
fall asleep at the right time, so it helps with
keeping a more regular schedule.

I've heard that Nefazadone can induce some serious
sleep and is often used for this along with another
AD.

Good luck in your pursuit of a good night's sleep.

Sean.
