A Speech
When all we think of, is the "right med", the "right relationship", the "right amount of money", the "right....etc etc etc". We never really get better.
We may FEEL better for awhile..and then it passes..
We want to FEEL better....thinking..acting..and..being..the EXACT SAME WAY WE ALWAYS WERE.
It really can't work.
WE are the way we are...in LARGE part.. BECAUSE we are the way we are.
Growing up means being repsonsible..
Everyone has REASONS they act certain ways.
This never excuses/removes the end results of the these actions.
This is SPIRITUAL LAW. It affects EVERYONE, EVERYDAY. EQUALLY.
Recovery means learning to LIVE CORRECTLY.
Having a tantrum never changes it.
Getting sick never changes it.
Meds can relieve the symptoms of illness so that WE CAN CHANGE. W
When we change..our experience of life CHANGES.
Is it hard?..You bet. Is it worth it? YES.
We each, have a "life package" within us. Skills, defects, streghths, weaknesses. Great experiences, terrifying experiences. .
We can make our "house" into a safe, relatively happy place. We also live in it where the only radio program playing is .."life, will it ever end?"
If anyone takes a chance..i swear to you..that you will SEE and HEAR help and assistance EVERYWHERE.
It isn't easy even then.
"All things in opposition"..is a line in the bible. Whatever the heck we decide to do that is healthy..there will be someone..or something getting in the way.
It's the way it is. We STILL keep at it.
And our spiritual "muscles" get stronger and stronger.
I've never AYONE..recover from chronic mental illness with the use of medications ALONE.
NEVER.
Even if ones diagnosis REALLY was "Prozac Deficiency"..what about school?..work?..relationhips?..religion?
People have always had to work these things thru.
We aren’t exceptions.
And the pain of our experiences can make us into genuine warriors.
Eventually of immense assitance to ourselves, and the world at large.
