I work with adolescent sexual offenders - half of my practice is with outpatient clients and the rest of the week I work with residents at a juvenile correctional facility. My outpatient clients receive rather loose supervision from their probation officers, parents, etc. I meet with them for 6 group hours and 1 indiv hour/wk.
All of my corrections clients have failed Tx at least twice or have other violent offenses. For my clients, the degree of supervision doesn't seem to matter! The facility residents act out more frequently then my outpatient clients. It seems that the difference is the ability of Tx to promote moral development and the second order change in belief structures that occur as a result.
